Who is Tim Burton?

Born in California in 1958, he began to direct his first super 8 films with some childhood friends when he’s 13 years old. Artist and passionate, he joined the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts),  a prestigious Fine-Arts school. Recently graduated, he got a job in Disney studios.

In 1982, he produced his first short-movie Vincent, a dark fairy tail. Three years later, he met the music composer Danny Elfman, and the two men began a collaboration which is still going on. He launched his director career with his first feature film Pee-wee Big Adventure with Warner Bros. In 1989, for the movie Edward scissorhands, he met the actor Johnny Depp, who became regular for almost all Burton’s movies.
The Batman movie released in 1989 confirmed his Hollywood major director’s position. In 1990, Tim Burton won his first oscar for best art directing for Batman. In 1994, he made the achievement to bring back to life, for an all movie, the obsolete art of stop-motion animation, for the great movie The Nightmare Before Christmas.
